Project Overview

We created a web application that lets office management companies efficiently create and manage office layouts, enabling their users to book desks and optimize workspace utilization. The application serves as a map builder, featuring a 3D interface for designing office floors and placing bookable desks. This 3D interface mirrors the user booking experience, aiding in visualizing the end results.

Challenges

Our main challenges revolved around aligning the needs of office management companies with the tools to create and manage office layouts. We aimed to provide a seamless solution for designing office spaces in a 3D setting and setting up bookable desks while ensuring flexibility for future adaptations. Another challenge was making sure the map builder showed the end result of what a user would see when using the booking service, without having confusing navigation for the builder.

To address these challenges, we created an intuitive map-building interface with familiar design elements from existing 3D tools. This approach allowed for a cohesive and user-friendly platform for creating and optimizing office spaces. The end result draws inspiration from many game builders and whiteboard builders.

Process

We started by discussing with the client their requirements and workflow. These were crucial in comparing to the features we wanted to include in the map builder, and what could be cut to reduce distractions.
We mapped out user flows to streamline both the desk reservation and workspace management process. This allowed for cohesion between the workplace management company and their clients' expectations.
Mockup Design and Iteration: This collaborative effort ensured that the map builder's design met both user and technical requirements.
We created high-fidelity mockups to facilitate the implementation of the web app. This included a large library of custom 3D assets!

The Design

Users can design multiple floors, place bookable desks, and visualize the workspace in a 3D setting. This map builder offers a comprehensive solution for streamlining the desk reservation and workspace management process, enhancing office efficiency and user experience, all with an extensive library of custom 3D assets made specifically for their use.
