Project Overview

We designed a power application that provides users insights into flow and operation within a mine. The application also serves as a platform for users to access status notes from the scheduling AI through the dashboard.

Challenges

We worked closely with a development team to elaborate on designs, drawing from user interviews and feedback from stakeholders. The product was successfully launched and is currently undergoing continuous improvement efforts.

Design Goal

Solutions

Informed by user interviews and an analysis of existing solutions, we developed a power application dashboard. This dashboard effectively communicates the status of each aspect of operations, along with the sequential order of operations. Working alongside stakeholders, we refined business requirements and collaborated with the development team to transition the product into production.

Process

  1. We conducted client interviews to gather requirements and comprehend the challenges mine operators faced in correlating product steps and their associated statuses.
  2. We mapped out an ideal usage flow and decision diagram for operators seeking to understand product statuses and their positions within the process.
  3. We designed, iterated, and prototyped a low-fidelity mockup, subjecting it to evaluation by stakeholders and a select user group to ensure acceptance and usability.
  4. Our team generated high-fidelity mockups and development assets, crucial for the development team's efforts.

The Design

Central to this app is the subway-style map depicting the movement of products within the system. In this view, operators can observe key metrics at each site, review messages, and address alerts. By clicking on individual sites, operators can trace the path products follow. Alerts and details are filtered to remain relevant to the highlighted path.
